National Truth and Reconciliation Day
Thursday, Sept. 30 is National Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day. It’s a day to honour and reflect upon residential school survivors, their families, and communities, while also bringing awareness about this important movement.
With Sept. 30 being a holiday, we will host our events on Wednesday, Sept. 29, beginning with a morning assembly for all students in the gym, followed by a reflection walk around the school. Over the next day or so, we will be distributing Every Child Matters t-shirts to our students. Please encourage your child(ren) to wear this shirt next Wednesday.
As a school, we are proud to support and be an active participant in recognizing this important day across our country. As part of our commitment to support, we will continue to bring awareness and understanding through education and learning for everyone in our school leading up to September 30 and throughout the school year.
